Take a look at last years costume. A cute simple Little Red Riding Hood❤️ I needed to think of something simple to make that didn’t require much sewing, since most of our stuff were in boxes in the garage. This time last year we were in the middle of trying to sell our house and buy another home, and so thinking of making Halloween costumes should have been last on our agenda…. that is unless you’re crazily obsessed with Halloween like I am 👻
Not going to lie though, I was a bit disappointed I couldn’t put up my Halloween decor. Since we had fixed our our house and got it ready to be shown to potential buyers, I couldn’t be displaying all my ghouls and goblins like I normally would. Probably wouldn’t be too appealing to potential home buyers.

Anyway at the time, I knew I’d have little access to my sewing materials and the coming days would be busy, so any chance I got I worked on our costumes. I went with the no-sew method skirt with tulle.. and lots of it! I went with different shades of red to add texture along with some glittery tulle to add that sparkle. I cut the tulle in different sizes again because I knew it wasn’t going to be perfect with my time constraints, so I wanted the edges to appear “rough”.
I was tired. We worked day and night trying to organize our things, put stuff away in boxes and get the house clean. We were determined to make it look as good as possible to get the most money out of that house. Btw we still hadn’t found our new home yet, we were still looking at homes and going to lots of open houses. So stressful!! Oh and did I mention I was 4 months pregnant! You’d think I would have just thrown in the towel and bought Emma a costume from those Spirit Halloween stores.. I almost did!! …..Yea right who am I kidding…..I’m way too stubborn to do that!
Anyway, I was working around the clock to make this costume work. The only actual sewing I did were the hood and cape, which actually wasn’t very hard at all to do. Overall, I liked our costumes. It was slightly different than the others I’d made the years before. The only difference is Jimmy didn’t dress up this time. I wanted him so badly to dress up as the wolf dressed as the grandma, but he wouldn’t do it. He wanted to just be the plain wolf, and honestly I was too pregnant and too tired to try to convince him to be otherwise. And so it was just me and Emma, one fat pregnant little red riding hood and one cute little girl little red riding hood. It was great!
We moved in to our new home on October 21, 2016. It was a great first Halloween there. We got to meet all our neighbors for the first time trick or treating, luckily there weren’t any wolves around🎃
